Copper Porphyry Information
Copper deposits are abundant in Arizona. The two images below give you an idea of what the miners and geologists look for. Volcanos (which includes submarine volcanos such as the one at Jerome), hydrates (mineral rich "soups") and leaching of the mineral are some of the major methods they look for. Of course, along with the copper, they find gold and silver.
